Grange Women's Association
Ida Sordello, Chairperson
GWA Report Presented to the
Grange Meeting
September 15, 2006
IS:
We met here this past Wednesday (9-13), and since our last meeting in
June we have gathered up, prepared some of this work (that) was done in our
previous meetings, some during the summer.
We turned in 6 crochet lap ropes. One
of our members made nice big black ropes for the Veterans work for hospitals.
18 boxes of crayons, nice new ones.
One of our members bought all these boxes of crayons.
Seven puzzle books, 10 coloring books, colored pencils, water colors,
Campbell soup and Swanson soup labels and cancelled stamps (don’t forget to
save the stamps) from your office.
DL:
Any kind of stamps?
IS:
Postage stamps, any. They
don’t have to be new ones or anything. They’re
for stamp collectors. They are
given to the Sons of Norway and the Sons of Norway give them to stamp
collectors. The money is given to
children with respiratory diseases.
RA:
Any stamp, such as international?
IS:
Oh yes, Any stamp. Just cut,
leave a little edge, but don’t cut too close to the perforations or they’re
not any good. Just cut a little
ways from the edge and bring them to me, trimmed.
I
made my report to the State Grange, GWA Director.
We make them twice a year now. Our
GWA members reported 299 volunteer hours to libraries, churches, transporting
people who are ill, etc. I sent
(my report) to State Grange to Director, Betty Idler. Because we’re such diligent workers Sue Howard rewarded us with a
delicious lunch.
DL:
Thank you Sister Ida. Keep
up the good work.
IS:
Sister Sue brought a guest and we’re hoping maybe she’ll join the
Grange because she’s really interested in helping us in what we were doing.
She’s a pretty busy lady. She’s
really interested. She’s a
Filipino lady and she’s kind of my neighbor but she’s a friend of Sue’s.
She’s
a real busy lady. She’s a
published author. She is writing a
religious book.
SH:
No it’s not a religious book. It’s
about her husband and her family in war.
IS:
An interesting lady.
DL:
Thank you
